The day before my birthday was the time to spend with my family, and so we went to The Block Café in Blockhouse bay. Here we ordered wine, beers and yummy brunches. My parents surprised me with a delicious cake, made by a lovely mum at my work called Joan. If you ever want a great cake visit
Nic and Nic Cakes. The cake was a complete shock as I had already received amazing gifts from my parents, my sister and her boyfriend.
Pampered: verb (used with object) 1. to treat or gratify with extreme or excessive indulgence, kindness, or care.
My actual birthday was spent at work with my class of 5 year olds. The class’s parents had baked me cupcakes and given me some lovely hand moisturiser. After work I headed home and got ready for a night of deserts at Milse in Auckland CBD.
B arrived home and surprised me with my favourite perfume (Jo Malone), a lovely bracelet, flowers, shoes, a massage and a facial package. How spoilt was I! Janine and Nick arrived some 20 minutes later and it was time to head into town where Mariska and Ash would meet us.
Once at Milse, we were told there would be a half hour wait for a table, and so our alternative plan was to head to Macs Brew Bar for some bears and bubbles. Misk and Ash showed up and gave me a pretty bunch of pink roses. After a couple of drinks, Janines cellphone rang - Milse calling! It was time for yummy deserts!
A dedicated dessert restaurant serving exquisite cakes, pastries and decadent degustation menus, Milse is Mecca for dessert devotees.
At Milse we looked at the desert menu with quite a bit of confusion: "beetroot toffee", "parmsean croutons" and "pea sorbet". SAY WHAT?? Luckily the waitress was there to explain, although it still didn't make much sense to us (we are obviously all gourmet chefs...). However, once the deserts came out all doubts were gone - they looked absolutely delicious. B had the Apricot desert, which was amazig, I tried the Strawberry desert and enjoyed that too. What a great night, I think I will enjoy being 28.
